5 Tips To Strengthen Weak Nails

Nails are one of the signs of a person’s health. Therefore, brittle nails are an indicator that something is not quite right.

Fragile or brittle nails? Often times, we don’t give this part of the body the importance it deserves. Why ? Quite simply because we see it as a minor issue. In this article, we offer you 5 tips to strengthen weak nails.

The nails grow in the epidermis of the extremities and face the harshness of the outside world. They scratch surfaces and often, on this occasion, they break, bend or take hits.

But why do they break? Often the cause may be the lack of glycine (an amino acid responsible for renewing collagen production).

Lack of glycine causes fragility and abnormal growth of the nail. Therefore, the production of collagen is essential for its development.

But there are also situations in which the nails are weakened by an injury or infection due to a fungus, such as onychomycosis or psoriasis of the nail. Here are some of the symptoms of brittle nails.

Symptoms

Strengthen fragile nails

  • Deformation
  • Nail peeling
  • Shine on light contact
  • Constant detachment of nail layers
  • Build-up of soft keratin under the nail

Causes

Among all the factors that can influence this phenomenon, we can mention the following:

  • Constant nail biting causes severe root damage and deformities.
  • Be careful when using metal nail files when you have brittle nails. We recommend cardboard files and remember to file to one side only.
  • Nutritional imbalance causes internal and external problems in the body.
  • Nails contain keratin, a protein that needs vitamins, minerals and amino acids to keep it in good condition.
  • Using detergents or other cleaning products can be very abrasive to the nails.
  • In the case of the feet, wearing inappropriate shoes, which do not allow perspiration, contributes to the appearance of fungi.
